Nature Experience Reduces Rumination and Subgenual Prefrontal Cortex Activation

The study found a significant interaction between time and environment on self-reported rumination [F(1,35) = 3.51, P = 0.07], driven by a decrease in the nature group [t(17) = −2.69, P < 0.05] with a mean change of -2.33. Moreover, there was a highly significant interaction effect of time by environment on sgPFC perfusion [F(1,29) = 23.41, P < 0.0001], with a decrease in blood flow in the nature group [t(15) = −6.89, P < 0.0001] and no change in the urban group.
