Effects of a School-Based Garden Program on Academic Performance: A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial

The Texas Sprouts gardening, nutrition, and cooking program led to a 6.5% improvement in fourth-grade reading scores compared to control schools, though no significant changes were observed in math or fifth-grade reading scores. This suggests that school-based gardening programs can modestly enhance academic performance while fostering healthier behaviors.
