“I see beauty, I see art, I see design, I see love.” Findings from a resident-driven, co-designed gardening program in a long-term care facility

This study demonstrates that a resident-driven horticultural therapy program, including raised-bed and hydroponic gardening, significantly improves the well-being of long-term care residents by fostering social connections, reducing isolation, and enhancing their quality of life. The program’s success highlights the importance of incorporating gardening activities into long-term care settings to promote engagement and a sense of purpose.
